The Exotic Bayahibe Rose Is Now The National Flower
of the Dominican Republic

The Dominican National Congress recently approved a bill that
designated the “Rose of Bayahibe” as the national flower.
The rose is found in the Bayahibe area, on the country’s eastern region,
and one of its most important tourism destinations. Although the rose is
currently on the endangered species list, it will now receive special attention.
The dark-pink flower, whose scientific name is "Pereskia Quisqueyana," is found
in and around the Bayahibe fishing community now turned into one of the most
important destinations for the Italian tourists that visit the Dominican Republic...
